HOUSTON, January 16, 2006 : COADE, Inc. has released PV Elite Version 2006, an updated edition of the company’s popular integrated vessel design and stress analysis software that incorporates the latest ASME code changes plus an extensive list of new or enhanced features and capabilities for pressure vessel design

The updated ASME Code 2006 in PV Elite includes a new yield stress database, new tables of information and approximately 100 new yield stress vs. temperature listings. ASME Code Case 2286 features have been added to provide alternate rules for determining allowable external pressure and compressive stresses for various combinations of conditions. The 2286 addition also includes stiffening ring and cone/shell junction calculations. Other code changes include Appendix 2 flange design, where flange rigidity is now mandatory. Appendix 26 calculations for expansion joint design have also been revised and integrated into PV Elite. The new version has added calculations per UG-39 with ligament checks for nozzles that are close together and checks for how close the nozzles are from the edge of the flat head.

Also in PV Elite Version 2006, nozzles in flat heads are now addressed for the PD 5500 (British) and EN 13445 (European) codes using a method that computes the required thickness of the head based on the proximity of the nozzles to the edge and their spacing. Among the many other enhancements in this updated program is an auto-save feature that can be customized to ensure regular retention of work in progress. Also, a new list feature allows users to easily switch between the ANSI metric and imperial nozzle tables. The user can also add full penetration pad welds and nozzle welds using the list feature.

PV Elite designs and evaluates pressure vessels and their components in accordance with ASME BPVC, PD 5500 and EN 13445. PV Elite provides engineers, designers, estimators, fabricators and inspectors with complete design of tall towers, horizontal vessels, "pots and pans" and individual vessel components. The software was designed for quick start up, and its graphical modeling capabilities are easy to use and allow for quick data assembly and vessel analysis.
