PV Elite 2009 - Build Summary Initial release - January 1st 2009 Latest Build - June 10th 2009 *********************************************************** PV Elite Build, PV_2009_090610, June, 2009 *********************************************************** Improvements, changes and New Features : -------------------------------------- 1) Several New Materials have been added to the ASME Div. 1 database. 2) The information in the ASME databases has been extended to include : Low Temperature information (MDMTs) for impact tested materials by specification Pointer to ASME Elastic Modulus data Pointer to ASME Thermal Expansion Coefficients Minimum Thickness Maximum Thickness Time Dependent Temperature MDMT Exemption Temperature Product form Impact reduction temperature Some of this data was there but has been refined and segregated. 3) The default for materials properties is now Section II Part D (Elastic modulus and Exp. Coefficients). 4) Mating Flanges are now "linked". 5) It is optional to use the Ellipse "K" factor in the corroded/uncorroded condition. 6) Sphere/Cylinder joints can be specified as being tapered (for MDMT Calculations). 7) Use ASME VIII-1 table UG-84 is included. 8) Use of ASME VIII-1 UCS-66(g) is included. 9) Use of ASME VIII-1 UCS-66(i) is included. 10) MDMT's of Impact tested materials (not by specification) can be specified for shell, nozzle and pad materials. 11) Dimensions for DIN flanges have been added to the database and are available in the flange analysis. 12) Several of the equations in VIII-1 (for Nozzle reinforcement) in the printout have been "refined" to reflect the less generic equations. These were mostly the area equations in UG-37. 13) In the strength of groove weld calculations the maximum of the shell and attachment allowables are now used as permitted by UG-41. 14) Several graphics issues have been sorted out, including: Saving the model to HTML. Panning the model by holding down the mouse wheel. Saving the colors and font sizes. Bottom Cone head/skirt/cylinder plotting. Flange graphics. Non-computed flanges are drawn using the information in the database. 15) Corrected logic for considering static pressure through vertical fixed tubesheet exchangers. 16) For ASME, the yield stress for external pressure is determined using the external pressure temperature and not the maximum of the internal and external temperatures. 17) The printout for Section VIII Division 2 2007 ed. Nozzles has been improved. 18) Calculation of the MAP case for nozzles in the new Division 2 is now included. 19) The PDVSA seismic Code has been added. 20) Many new help screens have been added, some in Spanish as well. 21) Piping on drain nozzles on horizontal vessels is now available. 22) The U1 form has been improved. 23) The material database editor has been updated to work with the changes to the new material database structure. 24) An MDMT summary report is now printed. 25) The fatigue analysis per the new 2007 edition of Division 2 is implemented. 26) The ASME MDMT analysis has been revised, especially for Nozzles. 27) In the material properties dialog, a Properties lookup button has been added. 28) The straight flange MAWP calculation has been added for heads. 29) When selecting bolts from the database, only bolt specifications are shown (ASME). 30) Added an input value for opertaing liquid specific gravity in the tubes of exchangers. 31) For ASME, the weld joint classification was added to the internal pressure printout. Corrections : ----------- 1 ) Corrected the IS-875 Wind code to compute mean speed to consider gust response factor. 2 ) Fix the U1 form for hydrotest. 3 ) Added the Vessel-nozzle MDMT for all material. 4 ) Fixed some incorrect data for the Indian strucural steel shapes. 5 ) Head Straight flange MDMT calculations. 6 ) Made the input for the conical bottom head easier. 7 ) The output to DXF did not always work and has been fixed. 8 ) PV Elite would not start under the Korean version of Windows. 9 ) The iterated value of the hydrotest pressure may not have always correct for ASME. This was fixed. 10) PWHT issues for items such as Long Weld Necks have been fixed. 11) For EN-13445, the hydrostatic end load H on flanges was being computed as if the flange was a full face. This led to conservative loadings and stresses. 12) On Vista, the abort on exit problem has been fixed. 13) The Div. 2 Horizontal vessel analysis might produce values of Nan in some cases. This was fixed. 14) Some other Vista related issues have been fixed (file open dialog). 15) Fixed new Div 2 Nozzle Spacing Check 16) The Check for Updates feature now works on Vista Known Issues : ------------ PV Elite will abort if activated by clicking on a pvi file from Windows Explorer or from the Windows document selection. We are working to resolve this problem. Click the icon to start PV Elite. Corrections to Component Analysis Module (aka CodeCalc): -------------------------------------------------------- *) Fixed an issue related to nozzle on head outside the 80% limit. The program was using the Joint efficiency of the head seam. (conservative error). *) Added the Vessel-nozzle MDMT for each material. *) Accounted for Impact tested materials in the Shells, Nozzles and Flange modules. *) Program was incorrectly printing the ambient rating instead of oprating flange rating in the summary of the small Nozzles. *) Fixed an issue in the Pipe and Pad summary. *) Tema Tubesheet - Added output enhancements - calculation change for differential pressure design (program was conservative). *) Fixed some performance issues. Enhancements to Component Analysis Module : ------------------------------------------- 1. Implemented separate lookup table for Young's modulus and Coeff. of thermal Expansion. 2. Added the option for user to specity tr/t ratio to reduce req. tubesheet extension thickness in TEMA tubesheet module. 3. Added the treatment of "Q" type nozzle weld type. 4. Updated the ASME material databases to include more information *********************************************************** PV Elite Build, PV_2009_090101, January 1st, 2009 *********************************************************** Corrections to Component Analysis Module (aka CodeCalc): -------------------------------------------------------- *) General - corrected a timing issue esecially when the the computer is slow or the program is run across a network. *) Flange - corrected the req. thickness for non-circular blind flange. CodeCalc was conservative. *) Fixed an issue with merging shell in to the WRC 297/Annex G module. *) British Tubesheet - Added one tube dia. to the Outer tube limit diameter variable, program was taking it as the distance between outer tube centers. *) Pipe-pad - Fixed the y value for Temperature > 1150F. *) Fixed an issue that affected the hillside nozzle calculation. Note: Refer to the Readme.doc in the program Root directory for the 2009 new feature list.
