When will Intergraph®CADWorx® 2013 be available? April 2012
Any improvements in resolving ISOGEN errors? CADWorx 2013 has a new Continuity Palette that will help designers find discontinuities. The new Palette will help designers resolve ISOGEN errors.
Will you add EZ-Line pipe supports to database? The Pipe Support Modeler palette added to CADWorx 2010 allows the creating of pipe support assemblies. A pipe support assembly can consist of several components to make up any given support. Any support used in CADWorx will be written to the project database and sent to ISOGEN and CAESAR II. Users can define an “EZ-Line Pipe Support” and this support will be written to the database.
Are we still confined to one plane when routing manually? In CADWorx 2013 the “routing” command allows users to route in any plane without the need to switch the UCS. Users are not confined to one plane or the X and Y axis. The routing compass allows users to route in any plane.

At the change of specs would the description of the component change as well? Yes, if there is a specification change of 150 lb to 300 lb then all descriptive and dimensional data will update to reflect change.
Can a piece of equipment be moved and the piping be updated? Not at this time.

Will NavisWorks be able to view the model? Intergraph and Autodesk are working together to investigate support for CADWorx 2013 model data within Navisworks. CADWorx Design Review not only will support CADWorx 2013 models but will also view multiple file formats using Smart Plant Publisher.
Are the objects 3D solids CADWorx 2013 uses CADWorx solids which are custom objects in AutoCAD and allow for increased functionality over the general AutoCAD solids.
Can I use auto weld gap with routing Yes, weld gaps can be set to be automatically inserted as you route or weld gaps can be inserted manually after the routing.
Can pipe assemblies be parametrically or dimension driven in the new version? Pipe assemblies can easily be stretched to update lengths or location of components. Users will not be able to activate a dimension and parametrically set length of components. Changes to pipe assemblies are done using grips. Grips enable users to parametrically move the assembly or pipe component to desired distance or location.
Will legacy models be compatible with CADWorx 2013? Yes, all CADWorx models will be compatible with CADWorx 2013
Will the new CADWorx models require an object enabler for non-CADWorx users to view the model components? Yes, an object enabler will be required to view the model if clients do not have CADWorx on their system.
Will user shape components upgrade to the new version?  And will specialty items like saddles look like saddles? User shapes continue to work with CADWorx 2013. There have been no changes to saddles. Saddles look the same as before.
Will legacy pipe specs be compatible or upgradeable to the new version? Yes, users will have the option to import their old specifications and data files into the new Project Specification.
Will Bill of Material tagging be dynamic and update with the new BOM? No, the Bill of Material tagging is static. There has been no change to the Bill of Material or Tagging in CADWorx 2013. If there has been a change in the model then the BOM and tagging will need to be regenerated, which taks only a few seconds to do.
Can you place the CAESAR II nodes numbers in CADWorx. Users have never been able to define Intergraph® CAESAR II® analysis nodes in CADWorx, it is the same for this release. However, when exporting a CADWorx model to CAESAR II, users have the option of Defining HOW they want the node numbering done, but not explicitly which node numbers to use. The user is given the ability to select geometric points and directions, which are used to define a pipe run. Once the model is in CAESAR II, the user can renumber as they see fit.
What's new for pipe supports? Can you put a shoe on a dummy leg? Pipe Supports now recognizes Xref’s and users may now run a bill of material report per component.
Can you search for specific components instead of looking for them one by one? If yes, what are the search criteria? The LINEVIEW command has a Find tab which allows the user to locate components based on their description information. Users may search for components by filtering for Tag, Code, Line Number, Short Annotation, Long Annotation, and ID_Count.
Can you turn off the automatic flange, when you put one in and the second comes in automatically?

CADWorx 2013 allows users to set this piping rule to Off, Automatic, or Manual. If this rule is turned off no flanges will be appended. If set to manual then the designer will be prompted to select the desired flange from what is available in the Project Specification. If set to automatic then specified default flanges will be automatically appended.
Has there been any updates to steel plates? Users can now add curved plate.
Has checkered plate or mesh plate been added? No, not at this time.
Do you now have instruments in the software? CADWorx has instrument balloons for annotating. Instruments have not changed in CADWorx 2013.
Will the new shapes improve performance in AutoCAD? Yes, CADWorx 2013 uses CADWorx solids which are custom objects in AutoCAD and allow for increased functionality over the non-optomized AutoCAD solids.
Does CADWorx 2013 have any option for re-enforcing pad or for stub-in? The Miscellaneous toolbar in CADWorx has an option for “Reinforcing Pad and Reinforcing Saddle”.
Have there been any enhancements to I-configure and or the ISOGEN title block setup? CADWorx 2013 added the latest version of I-Configure and Symbols Editor in the installer
Will we be able to have CADWorx 2012 and 2013 loaded at the same time to give us a chance to try and fall back if required? Yes, CADWorx 2012 and CADWorx 2013 may be loaded on the same time but only one version maybe in use.
How does the piping handle stub-ins? Stub-ins are handled as regular branch connections with offset taps.
How many possibilities do you have when using automatic route? The number of possibilities depends on the specification.
Any changes to the CADWorx Clash and the way it works? CADWorx Clash continues to work as it has done, as a built-in on-the-fly or batch full model (including xrefs) clash detection capability, at no extra cost.
Do the pipes reconnect when a component is taken out? Yes, pipes will heal as components are deleted if the associated pipe rule is set.
Any improvements to the Tube command? The Tube command, as used for instrumentation tubing and lines, continuese to work as in previous releases.
If on maintenance, is this a free upgrade? Yes, all customers on current maintenance will receive CADWorx 2013 on request.
Any changes to current pipe specifications? Yes, specifications are now stored in a Project and data files in a Catalog. This change will be covered in future webinars.
Any improvement with UCS? With the new self-aware components and new routing tool users can now change the Plane with ease and the UCS toolbar is used less.
If we buy 2012 version now will it be updated in Sep free of charge? Yes, this new version will be supplied free of charge for customers  on current maintenance on request.
In an effort to minimize welds, what happens when you drag the flange to the elbow, will it automatically account for the 'dropped' pipe? Yes
Is the data still stored in the centerline? Data is stored in both the component and the centerline
Will there be more info in hover?  Like BOP for example? There has been no updates to the extensive list of information that can be optionally displayed on a tooltip 'hover'
Is the interface with C2 still preserved? Yes. The unique bi-directional link between CADWorx and CAESAR II opperates as it has done in previous versions.
I understand we can set the pipe lengths as we draw. Will insert branches cut the pipe to proper length? Yes, piping will automatically be cut when branch components are placed in a line.
Is a branch table used for selecting the branch components? Yes it is. The new branch tables are defined within the piping specifications.
Please elaborate on the piping rules.  Does this mean we now need to create and maintain a system adminstrator role? CADWorx 2013 does not require an administrator; the rules are easy and can be controlled by the user.
We have CADWorx fieldPipe which includes a full license of CADWorx Plant Professional and I want to know how this will work with the field Pro software?  Also, how are we going to get the full functionality of the new enhancements and self-aware components? CADWorx filedPipe has not been updated for CADWorx 2013. This is something we will work on after this release. One thing we do have is the ability to convert a legacy CADWorx model into the new model allowing you to bring in your previous work.
When changing specs, how does it know which direction to grow or shrink the pipe?  Given that an 900lb flange is bigger than a 300lb spec.  Is there any control over how it grows/shrinks? The user will be able to lock down the components they want to remain in place.
Have valve Topworks been updated to work with the new self-aware components? Yes
What about mode conversion? Can we model in 2D or just "self aware" and routing work in 3D? Mode Convert has not changed. Users can model in single line, double line, 3D or the new enhanced mode.
What version of AutoCAD is required for CADWorx 2013 AutoCAD® 2010/2011/2012. CADWorx 2013 R1 will be compatible with AutoCAD 2013. Which means that to take advantage of CADWorx 2013 functionality, you do not have to upgrade your platform version until you are ready to do so.
When using stub ends, will the flanges move with them? Yes
Will bolts stay grouped with flange set when moved? Yes
Will components recognize the orientation of the connecting component? Yes
Will fittings allow for slope with small degree difference vs trimmed fittings? No
Does CADWorx allow reduced size stub-ins and sloped piping? Yes
Will it be able to change between threaded/buttweld/socketweld? No
Will previous CADWorx models update to this new version? Not for this release, CADWorx 2013 will allow all CADWorx models to convert to the new CADWorx solids in the near future.
Will the printed BOM be intelligent and recognize if an item has been erased or added in the piping model? No, the printed, or output, Bills of Material are not linked to the model. If there has been a change in the model then the BOM will need to be regenerated. If you require live and up-to-date materials information on your project you can use the CADWorx live database functionality, where all users are linked to a live external project database. As an extra benefit these piping models can be recreated from these databases.
Will the new self aware features be operational when opening old CADWorx models? No, this will require a conversion of the legacy model to the new model format. This will be available in the near future.
Can we easily convert our existing specs to the new format? Yes, there is an import command that allows users to easily convert existing specs and data files.
Are the piping rules in CADWorx 2012? No, the piping rules are in the new version of CADWorx 2013.
When a gate valve was inserted the gasket orientation did not use the UCS? The orientation is based on the orientation of the pipe that the gasket was placed in.
When using check size how do you use an eccentric reducer instead of concentric reducer? This is an option in the program based on the current specification.
Can we route with only one start and end point? Yes the router allows you to select a run based on a box from the two points.
Will the bolts be erased when the flange or gasket is erased? Yes the bolts will be part of the valve assembly set.
How can we control the orientation of the valve handles? Topworks allows you to orient your handles or actuators as you wish.
Will the bolts and nuts also come in assembly? With the catalog you will have the ability to specify your nuts as well as bolting types and these will be inserted as a single line item listed as a set.
Can components and assemblies be copied? The component can be copied with regular AutoCAD routines.
Can CADWorx currently do analysis of cavitation or software is required to have CAESAR II? All piping analysis is done in CAESAR II.
Is there a way to lock down the rules or export rules out for different projects? With this release settings including piping rules cannot be locked down. In the future CADWorx will have access control for all settings.
Will there be additional user fields for the component edit dialog box? Yes the CEDIT will contain all the added user fields for editing.
Can users set pipe lengths? Yes, pipe lengths can be set. In the new catalog pipe lengths can be set for both minimum and maximum lengths giving control for real world pipe lengths. 
Can we use CADWorx for pipeline drawings? Yes, you can use CADWorx for pipeline drawings.
Can CADWorx 2013 draw socket weld and threaded pipe? Yes, all piping component types are available.
When inserting a component can users control the start point to corner instead of end point? Yes, the start point can be toggled.
When placing a valve that is smaller than the main pipe size, can you have CADWorx place eccentric reducers as well as concentric reducers? Concentric reducers can be selected when placing any reducing component in the line. Eccentric reducer option will be added with a future update.

If you change the size and have a support on the piping, will the support change? The support will change using the regenerate command.
Is the bolt hole orientation a global setting or is it defined per drawing? Bolt hole orientation is a piping rule setting..
Where are the Project Assemblies located? The project assemblies are kept in a special XML data file and a DWG file is generated to allow you to view the model for easy selecting.
Can assemblies be modified once they have been inserted without affecting existing assemblies? You can edit an existing assembly that is saved in your library using the Assembly palette commands. You can modify any part of the assembly without affecting any other assembly. Once an assembly is inserted into the model it becomes part of the model. Once an assembly is inserted it become individual components.
Can you use an assembly on multiple drawings? Yes, users can define global assemblies as opposed to the project assemblies.
Can we specify flow direction for ISOGEN isometrics without inserting the flow arrow? The flow direction will be controlled as it is today with the ISOGEN Supplemental.
Can the routing manage slopes, or slight deflections in fittings? Routing can handle sloped piping systems but cannot handle deflections and fitting mismatches.
Can we put supports in this software? CADWorx comes with an extensive pipe support module.
What about bullnose tees? With the new catalog most components can be modeled with modifications to the data. Like the current CADWorx you can change the look of a component by changing the dimensional data. CADWorx 2013 adds more dimensional data for more control over what the final component will look like.
Can you set automatic feature to added reducers to fit the different size valve on the pipe, instead of changing the valve size? Yes this is possible depending on the sizes available in your spec.
Where would you modify the global assemblies? The global assemblies can be modified in the Assembly palette just the same way as the project assemblies. Project assemblies are a subset of the global assemblies.
How much delay is expected with the new AutoCAD releases? We have been able to release an AutoCAD version compatible release within a couple of months of the latest AutoCAD release. This will continue to be the case.
What about deflections in flanged fittings? Deflections will have to be model manually and with care as CADWorx will try and make sure the components line up properly end to end and ISOGEN will try and generate based on connectivity.
Will we still be able to run bent tubing? Yes, bent tubing will still be available.
Is the basic process of creating the custom fitting the same or will there be an environment similar to the block editor to create them in? User shapes will be the same as CADWorx 2012. We will be working on a component editor for a future release of CADWorx.
What can we do with this software? User can build intelligent 3D piping models. The following is available with CADWorx Plant Professional: Specifications, Steel, Equipment, Ducting/Cable Trays, Collision Checking, ISOGEN Isometrics, Live Database Links, Model - P&ID Synchronization, CADWorx Design Review, Intergraph CADWorx P&ID included, Links to Stress Analysis and Vessel Analysis.
Are there any large radius fabricated elbows? The catalog can be edited and components added very easily to accommodate any type of bends (elbows) you wish. We have added more dimensional data to allow for different types of bends including fabricated elbows.
Can you use this functionality with eccentric reducers? Yes, if you have eccentric reducers in your spec it will prompt you for which one to use.
Is the valve spec for the chosen item or for the resulting pipe size? The spec controls the valve that will be used.
Are these configuration settings controlling user settings per project or per user? The settings can be used throughout your company as is the case today.
When placing a lap joint flange will it insert the back-up companion flange? At this time the Lap Flange comes in as one piece. In the future we will have two piece lap flanges with material differences for each piece.
If you have edited the description of a valve, and then you move it to another location using these new techniques, will the description be overwritten when CADWorx redraws the item in the new location? No, everything you modify in the CEDIT will be kept as you move the components. If you change size or spec it will be rewritten from the spec.
How does the 'assembly' functionality work with vessels and steel? At this time the assembly palette is only for piping components.
Where are the rules stored? The rules are stored with the configuration file and in the drawing as well.
How do you choose where to save the Assemblies so that others can use them as well? There is a setting for the assembly data location.
How do we put a sock-o-let on a cap? You can add a component to any other component using the TAP or OTAP functions.
How do we get a note to come out on a pipe (mid pipe) through ISOGEN? Using the ISOGEN Supplemental you can add notes to any component.
If I have a 6" valve with a specification definition and the definition of that valve is different for the 8" line that I insert it into will the new valve be controlled by the 8" spec or the 6" spec? If you change size and the new size does not have the same valve then you will have to select the valve you want to replace it with from the list available.
Does the automatic bolting account for bleed rings, wafer valves, etc? Auto bolting takes into account flange make-ups including any components placed between a flange pair. This will allow for wafer type valves, orifice plates, spec blinds, etc. The bolts will add the additional length to accommodate these components and round them up to a user specified tolerance based on bolt size.
Can we run sloped pipe in CADWorx? Yes, sloped piping can be run in CADWorx 2013.
How does the assembly manager insert a 4" fitting to fitting control set into a 10" line? This works the same as the CHANGESIZE and CHANGESPEC functions in that it will prompt you for additional information as to how to move the components to fit properly in the line.
What versions of AutoCAD will CADWorx 2013 support CADWorx 2013 will support AutoCAD 2010-2012. In June CADworx 2013 will support AutoCAD 2013 
Is there a feature to update a previously created model to the self aware components? In the near future there will be a function to convert legacy models to the new CADWorx Enhanced Piping format. 
The rounding off of the bolt lengths is critical to cap screws on a wafer valve assembly. The bolting tolerance is completely controlled by the user in the catalog.
